Large Horn Anthracite
Hieronymus’ letter case is superbly hand-crafted from exquisite materials and, as part of a sophisticated writing culture, is used to store personal correspondence. Birch bark is used as the substrate for the body, which is then covered with cow horn. Many months of sophisticated workmanship are required until the horn has been sufficiently refined to the extent that it can be fitted. It is the interplay of materials, design and superb workmanship that offers a fitting setting in which to store handwritten correspondence appropriately.
