Additional Information fountain pens

Ink

Writing ink should be used in this fountain pen. Indian ink should not be used as it will clog the pen’s fine capillary system. If standard ink cartridges are used, there should always be two cartridges back to back in the fountain pen.

Filling the fountain pen with ink for the first time

When using the fountain pen for the first time, it is advisable to write several lines to encourage the ink to flow. Filling the converter: immerse the nib of the fountain pen almost completely in the ink bottle and fill the converter by carefully turning it in a clockwise direction. When doing so, please hold the fountain pen upright. After filling it, allow a few drops of ink to drop back into the ink bottle by carefully turning the converter anticlockwise. In this way, any air bubbles will be forced out of the converter.

Maintenance of the ink system

To maintain the ink system, we recommend rinsing the fountain pen with clear water after it has been filled five times. If it is seldom used, every three months. The pen should just be rinsed with clear, lukewarm water. To prepare, remove the cap and the body of the pen, and empty the ink in the converter by carefully turning the filling mechanism counter-clockwise. Immerse the nib in water to rinse it and depress the filling mechanism several times. Change the water and repeat the process until the water runs clear.
